Sprig Native Plant Nursery
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
Arisaema triphyllum
Jack-in-the-Pulpit is a striking native plant well-suited to shady woodland gardens. It prefers rich, moist soil and thrives in part to full shade.
By mid-summer, clusters of green berries form and ripen to a bright red in early fall as the foliage dies back. While the berries feed birds and mammals, the plant itself has a bitter, peppery taste that deters herbivores.
