Sprig Native Plant Nursery
Arrow-leaved Aster
Arrow-leaved Aster
Symphyotrichum urophyllum
This low-maintenance native plant forms clumps that will slowly spread by rhizomes. Blooming in late summer to fall, it produces clusters of white to blue flowers with pale ray petals and centers that change from creamy yellow to reddish-purple. The arrow-shaped leaves are toothed and slightly fuzzy.
The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, providing crucial late-season nectar and pollen. It’s also a host for the Pearl Crescent butterfly, making it a valuable addition to borders, naturalized areas, or ecological gardens.
