Species Details:
American Elderberry is a multi‑stemmed, arching shrub that grows 5–12 ft tall, blooming in early summer with clusters of fragrant white flowers that later transform into deep purple-black berries. This native plant is a wildlife magnet: its nectar-rich blooms draw bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects; its hollow stems offer nesting sites for native bees; and its ripe berries become a vital food source and shelter for dozens of bird species and small mammals.
