Sprig Native Plant Nursery
Dotted Mint
Dotted Mint
Monarda punctata
Dotted Mint, or Spotted Bee Balm, is a drought-tolerant native perennial that thrives in sandy soils and full to partial sun. It spreads by runners to form clumps but is not considered to be too aggressive. It is a unique looking beauty with whorled yellow flowers speckled in purple, surrounded by pale purple bracts.
A magnet for pollinators, this plant attracts honeybees, bumblebees, butterflies, and even serves as a host for the Raspberry pyrausta butterfly. Its fragrant foliage deters deer and other herbivores, making it low-maintenance and easy to grow.
