Species details:
Northern Bush Honeysuckle is a compact, spreading shrub with dark green, oval leaves that turn shades of yellow, orange, and red in fall. Clusters of small, tubular yellow flowers bloom in late spring and early summer, sometimes aging to orange-red. Its suckering growth habit makes it a good choice for naturalized plantings, slopes, and areas where low-growing shrubs are needed.
Northern Bush Honeysuckle provides nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, including hummingbirds that visit its flowers. It serves as a host plant for several moth species, including the snowberry clearwing moth. Its foliage and twigs provide browse for deer and moose, while its dense growth offers cover for birds and other small wildlife.
