Sprig Native Plant Nursery
Early Goldenrod
Early Goldenrod
Solidago juncea
A graceful native perennial that produces loose clusters of bright yellow flowers in early to mid-summer, earlier than most goldenrods. Its smooth stems and clean, lance-shaped foliage give it a refined appearance well suited to prairies, open woodlands, meadows, and mixed borders.
Early goldenrod provides an important early-season nectar and pollen source for native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Like other goldenrods, it also supports a wide diversity of moth and butterfly larvae, contributing to healthy ecosystems.
This species can be aggressive and therefore may not be suitable for small landscape plantings.
