Leadplant is a small, deciduous shrub that takes several years to reach maturity. The flower spikes are a deep bluish-purple flowers with golden orange stamens giving it a striking appearance. Its roots can reach up to 15 feet making it incredibly drought tolerant. Attracts bees, butterflies, moths and other insects. Deer and rabbits may nibble on it so protect it the first few years while it is getting established.
