Midland Shooting Star
Midland Shooting Star
Dodecatheon meadia
Captivating spring ephemerals celebrated for their delicate, nodding flowers resembling shooting stars. Their leafless flower stalks rise above a lush basal rosette of lance-shaped leaves, creating a striking display in early spring.
Naturally occurring in a range of colors—purple, pale pink, and white—Shooting Stars flourish in well-drained soils with even moisture and tolerate sun to shade conditions. By midsummer, the plant goes dormant. This plant will self-seed well in semi-dry or rocky areas and can thrive under shrubs or small trees.
Note: these are first year plants and they grow very slowly. Midland Shooting Star is a spring ephemeral and will go dormant over the summer.
