The blossoms last a month or more and resemble snapdragon flowers or tiny monkey faces. This plant needs wet soil that doesn’t dry out so is great for marshy areas, wet meadows, streambanks and similar sites. Host plant for Common buckeye and Baltimore checkerspot butterfly caterpillars.
