    Echinacea pallida

    Pale, drooping pink flowers sit atop a thick, hairy stem which ranges from green to purple.  Its deep taproot will make it very drought tolerant once established. It needs well drained, soil or the root will start to rot. It can spread aggressively and needs competing plants, such as prairie grasses, to help limit its spread. Flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
