Showy Goldenrod
Showy Goldenrod
Solidago speciosa
Showy Goldenrod blooms a bit later than the other goldenrods and is topped by showy yellow plumes. It will spread slowly to form clumps but is not aggressive. It does the best in full sun and well-drained soil. It is a keystone species and one of the top ranked plants for supporting biodiversity. It provides late season nectar to many pollinators, including monarchs as they prepare to migrate. The seeds provide food to a number of migrating and overwintering birds.
