    Blooming later than most other milkweeds, Whorled Milkweed has short narrow leaves topped by white flowers. It will spread by rhizome to form attractive drifts of flowers. The flowers attract many kinds of insects, including long-tongued bees, short-tongued bees, wasps, flies, butterflies, skippers and beetles. It prefers sandy, well-drained soils and open space. It will not compete well against taller or more aggressive species. Host plant for Monarch butterfly caterpillars.
